"Inflammation and You" –– Monday, March 3, 2008
Inflammation is the body’s normal response to a challenge of any sort. Whether you experience a paper cut or sprain an ankle your immune system will swing into action, causing swelling, redness and some pain around the injury. All this is evidence that your defense system is at work and once it has everything in order you can witness your body’s miraculous ability to heal as everything returns to pre-inflammation status.   But what happens if the immune system doesn’t return to an “on standby” mode and inflammation exists in a chronic state?

Unfortunately, this is just the scenario that many experience in variety of forms.  Chronic inflammation can manifest physically as allergies, digestive problems, skin conditions, and autoimmune issues, that can cause aches, pains, fatigue, a lower quality of life… and the list goes on!  Furthermore, research has brought to light the connection between chronic inflammation and the increased risk of cardiovascular disease. If you are interested in understanding this process beyond the controlling of symptoms, please join us as we explore the factors that create chronic inflammation, how we can understand our bodies’ response, take charge, regain balance and prevent disease.
